Julia Langner, LPC-MHSP(t) Nashville Therapist for Women and the Music Industry
I’ve spent 7 years working in several meaningful corners of the mental health field, beginning in a residential treatment center in Vermont, to leading support groups for survivors of sexual exploitation, and most recently, providing mental health care to touring and recording artists at Porter’s Call, a non-profit which has supported music industry mental health since 2001.
Before I became a Nashville therapist, I was a Music Business student at Belmont University struggling with my own mental health. My past experiences as a client paved the road to me becoming a therapist and putting self-compassion at the front of my work. Since then, I’ve helped women and music industry professionals in Nashville and across Tennessee develop a more curious and compassionate self so they can live the life they were created for.

What to Expect in Our Work Together
Sessions with me are collaborative and client-centered. We will work together at the start to identify your goals for counseling and create a personal road map for our work. I’ll guide our time with compassionate curiosity and gentle challenging, keeping your pace and comfort in mind as we go.
Trauma-Informed Care
As a trauma-trained and trauma-informed therapist, I value your autonomy in the room. When it comes to your story, you choose where we go and how fast we get there. I believe lasting change happens when we have the courage to dig up the deeper roots, healing old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you. I balance that deeper work with psycho-education and practical coping skills, so you feel equipped and empowered both in and outside of our sessions.
Making Therapy Accessible for Music Industry Professionals
I partner with EcchoLive to provide reduced-fee counseling to live event staff and touring crews, and accept grants from other organizations like MusiCares to assist in the cost of therapy for other industry professionals. If cost has been a barrier to getting support, these programs may be able to help. Learn more about getting help for music industry mental health.

Rooted in Nashville, Connected in Community
I’ve worked alongside a small team of clinicians at a group practice called Three Cords Therapy since 2023. I’ve lived in Nashville for over ten years and have always held an immense love for this city, which is embedded in my work as a therapist. I love the library, Mary Oliver poems, Gregory Alan Isakov’s music, and any dog I ever met, especially, Helen & Alfie, my two quirky rescues.
My experience in mental health has taken me on many adventures, and I am grateful to every place I have been able to work and learn over the last 7 years, including: Spring Lake Ranch Therapeutic Community in Vermont, AncoraTN in Nashville (TN) and Porter’s Call in Franklin (TN). These places have shaped my clinical skills, but they have mostly taught me what it looks like to be a human walking with another from despair to hope.

General FAQs
What kind of therapy do you offer?
I’m a Nashville therapist specializing in trauma, anxiety, and music industry mental health for women and creatives in Nashville and via Telehealth across Tennessee. I also help clients navigate depression, self-worth, grief & loss, stress, relationship strain, and burnout, meeting you where you are and working at a pace that feels right for you.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual sessions are $160 per 50-minute session. I am an out-of-network provider and while I do not bill insurance directly, I am happy to provide a superbill for clients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. I accept HSA and FSA payments, and partner with music industry organizations like Backline, MusiCares, and EcchoLive to offer reduced-fee counseling to those working in the music industry.
Do you offer virtual therapy sessions?
Yes! I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions to clients across Tennessee. You’re also welcome to mix it up, coming in person when it works for you and switching to virtual when life gets busy. Flexibility is important to me, and I want our work together to fit your life.
How do I get started?
Reach out via my contact form, email, or phone, whichever feels most comfortable to you. I typically respond within 24 hours to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. This is a no-pressure conversation where we can get a feel for each other, you can ask any questions you have, and we can decide together if we’re a good fit. We can also consult and schedule an initial session over email if you prefer.
Client FAQs
You mention women & music industry professionals. Do you work with men?
My practice is primarily focused on women’s mental health, though I do work with men on a case-by-case basis. If you’re a man working in the music industry, I’d especially love to connect. Supporting music industry professionals is central to my work regardless of gender. Reach out and we can chat during a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
Are you LGBTQIA+ affirming?
Yes, absolutely. I am committed to providing safe, compassionate, and affirming care to all clients. You are welcomed and accepted here regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or wherever you currently land on your journey. I’m also happy to provide quality referrals to clinicians who specialize in LGBTQIA+ issues if your needs fall outside my scope of practice.
Can I see you if I don’t live in Tennessee?
Unfortunately, no. Licensing laws vary state by state, and I am restricted to seeing clients who only live in Tennessee.
