Julia Langner, Nashville therapist answering frequently asked questions about therapy in Tennessee.

FAQs: General & Payment Information

I’m a Nashville therapist specializing in trauma, anxiety, and music industry mental health for women and creatives in Nashville and via Telehealth across Tennessee. I also help clients navigate depression, self-worth, grief & loss, stress, relationship strain, and burnout, meeting you where you are and working at a pace that feels right for you. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and work in an affirming office space.

Individual sessions are $160 per 50-minute session. I can accept cash, check, credit and debit card and HSA and FSA cards as payment.

No, I am an out-of-network provider and while I do not accept insurance directly, I am happy to provide a superbill for clients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. I also accept HSA and FSA payments, and partner with music industry organizations like MusiCares and EcchoLive that offer financial assistance via grants for counseling to those working in the music industry.

Yes, I accept both Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) payments. Therapy typically qualifies as an eligible expense under both, making this a great way to use pre-tax dollars for your mental health care.

I am located in the music row/midtown neighborhood at 49 Music Square East, Nashville TN 37203. Our office is a historic brick home with a cozy feel to it. We have tea and water available in our waiting room and a gender neutral bathroom.

Yes, I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions to clients across Tennessee. You’re also welcome to mix it up, coming in person when it works for you and switching to virtual when life gets busy. Flexibility is important to me, and I want our work together to fit your life.

FAQs: Getting Started with Julia

Reach out via my contact form, email, or phone, whichever feels most comfortable to you. I typically respond within 24 hours to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. This is a no-pressure conversation where we can get a feel for each other, you can ask any questions you have, and we can decide together if we’re a good fit. We can also consult and schedule an initial session over email if you prefer.

The 15-minute consultation call is a chance for us to connect and see if we’d be a good fit for working together. I’ll ask a little about what’s bringing you to therapy and you’re welcome to ask me anything about my approach, experience, or how I work. There’s no commitment involved or obligation to schedule – just a conversation to see if working together feels right.

Your first session is all about getting to know each other and helping you get comfortable taking this first step. I’ll ask about your history, what’s bringing you to therapy right now, and what you’re hoping to get out of our work together. You don’t have to have everything figured out – we’ll work together to identify your goals for counseling and create the road map ahead over our next few sessions.

This looks different for everyone and depends on what you’re working through, your goals, and how you respond to the therapeutic process. Some clients find meaningful relief in a handful of sessions. Others engage in longer-term work over months or years, especially if there is a history of trauma. I don’t believe in keeping clients in therapy longer than necessary. My goal is always to help you build the skills and insight to carry self-compassion forward on your own.

Most clients start with weekly sessions, which helps create the most momentum early in the therapeutic process and build us a secure foundation to work from moving forward. As you progress we may shift to biweekly or monthly sessions. The frequency is always flexible and based on your needs, schedule, finances and goals.

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy for all sessions. If you cancel prior to this window, there will be no charge for the session. Late cancellations or no-shows within the 48-hour window will be charged for the session, unless it is an emergency or illness where we cannot pivot to telehealth. Life happens and I always try to approach these situations with flexibility and understanding.
